Ok so I changed my colours...

The chairs at the venue are a light blue and rather then clashing with my red, black & white I have decided to work with what I have as I couldn't justify the cost of seat covers. So my new colours are light blue, chocolate brown & white.

I love the colours, but not sure how I will match flowers to this... hmm.

Decided to design my own...

I am a graphic designer by trade and had planned on saving myself the time and hassle of making my own invites - but I was then convinced that someone with my skills should really take advantage of them.

This way I will always be able to say "I did that." Best of all I can carry the design over onto other aspects of the party and use it in my album that I will make after.

Booked our date...

Woo hoo... very excited!

We booked our date today. Unfortunately I couldn't get the 30th April - so instead we took one week later and got the 7th May, 2011 at the Mollymook Surf Club. I'm still really happy with this, it's only a date and it gives me a bit of extra time to organise.

So it's 8 weeks today! Better get a move on with the invites...

A Guest Book...

I found the most gorgeous idea for a guest book today! It's so simple but very personal and I can create it myself and get it printed up.

It's a hard cover photo book. I get them made up for my photography clients and use a great little website called "Photobook." Basically what I plan to do is use photo's of me and Evan through out the book, from when we first meet, to now.

To add a bit of a personal touch I am thinking about also having photo's of our family and friends in the book so that our guests can find their picture in the book and write their message next to it. I think it would just be a great visual memory, years from now. To us the engagement is a bigger event because we plan to only have a very small wedding with close family only. This way, years from now we will be able to take a trip down memory lane with this beautiful book.

Need a date...

I am starting to become frustrated... I need a date for the engagement party. We have picked the 30th April, 2011 - BUT things keep coming up, stopping me from booking our venue and in turn this is giving more chance for the venue not being available. I could just book it but we will lose our $200 deposit if we change the date.

Ev has work commitments out of town but we don't know if and when it's happening and wont know for another 6 weeks... so frustrating! I don't want to push the engagement back to May either as it will be 5 months since we where engaged and May is much cooler.

We really need to commit to a date and book soon! I would like to get the invitations out around 6 weeks before as we do have a few out of town guests.

On a happy not I bought my first lots of supplies! Simple plates and napkins, but it really makes me feel like I have made a start. Once I book the venue I will really need to get a move on.

My lovely friend found this great cake topper for the engagement cake on etsy. It's very cute and modern but simple. I think I could use it as an icon for the night and have the invites have it on them and play around with the idea.
